The belfry of Gembloux has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2005. Gembloux took its place where it is now when Saint Guibert built a church and a monastery. The monastic community of Gembloux had to flee during the French Revolution, which soon reached our country. The buildings of the former Benedictine abbey are now occupied by the Agro-bio Technology section of the University of Liege.
